Format of Page

Look at past/upcoming BIL's to see how they organized the wiki page. A good wiki page should contain the following items:

  • Location
  • Date
  • Sponsors - both monetary and in-kind. Also list things that NEED sponsorship (shirts, food, facility, equipment...).
  • Organizers
  • Attendees - embedding a Google Doc works well so you can get everyone's email without publishing it.
  • Schedule - ex: 9am-12 Talks, 12-1 Lunch, 1-5 Talks...
  • Possible Presentations

 

Random Tips:

  • Location - Start looking for your location ASAP, and get as big of a space as possible. When we started planning the first BIL, we had no idea 300 people would show up. We found the cheapest, largest location we could and it worked out great. It would've been better if it was larger, but I don't think we'd do it differently (didn't want to spend much money).
  • Shirts - It's a great idea to give away shirts. Find a sponsor willing to cover the cost, in exchange for a logo on the shirt. If you want to use the same design as the original BIL shirts (picture) contact Bill Erickson. He'll print the shirts at cost (approx. $5/shirt + $75 setup) and ship them to you.
